I can choose the right by...

Adam got a new primary teacher today at church.  I am excited for him and so happy about who his new teacher is.  When I was in the Primary presidency, I just fell in love with this cute girl who is now teaching his class.  He is now in the CTR 5 class.  The first Sunday of the year, they always have a lesson about choosing the right.  Adam's new teacher had made little handouts that said, "I can choose the right" and then she had the kids draw a picture of how they can choose the right.  Adam drew a picture of his room with stuff all over, and then himself and daddy cleaning it up.  His teacher wrote "I can choose the right by cleaning up a big mess".  Both Scott and I knew right away why he had drawn that picture.
During our New Year's Eve celebration on Friday night, Adam and Xander were upstairs playing in Adam's room.  We didn't think much about it because they play up there all the time.  After dinner and dessert, Scott went upstairs for something and happened to open the door to Adam's bedroom and was shocked at what he saw.  This picture does not do it justice...
Every toy, every book, all the clothes from the hamper, the bedsheets, everything from his shelves, and some pictures that had been on the walls were thrown on the floor.  They had basically torn Adam's room apart.  To say we were disappointed would be an understatement.  I'm not sure what gave them the idea, but it was a huge mess.  I was shocked when I walked upstairs to see what was going on.  Adam could tell that his dad was not happy, and he quickly apologized, as did Xander and they both said they would clean it up.
Amazingly, they did clean it up.  It was obvious Adam knew he had made a bad choice, when I told him that the pictures and a few other things had to be thrown away because they were ruined.  Normally he would throw a fit about anything getting thrown away, but he just looked at me and tucked his head like he was going to cry, but kept right on picking things up.  And then, today when I asked him about the picture he drew in primary, he told me that he knew he didn't choose the right when he made a big mess in his bedroom.  I just hope that lesson sticks with him....

That is a very cute story. I think its great that he understood that he didn't choose the right. And I'm very impressed that he and Xander cleaned the mess.
