Do you FONDUE?

It's New Year's Eve and we continued our annual New Years Eve fondue night. We've had fun the past several years breaking out the fondue pot and cooking up some yummy food. Adam, of course, thought it was pretty great to be able to cook his dinner that way! The best part, of course, is the chocolate fondue for dessert!
After dinner, Adam cuddled up with dad on the couch, and then was in bed by 10:00. The rest of us are playing/watching Mario Party on the Wii until the good old hour of midnight so we can watch the fireworks go off at the space needle and then go to bed. Hopefully the fireworks display will work this year!
We wish you all a Happy New Year! Hope to see you all in 2009!

7 Brides for 7 Brothers

Tiff, mom and I went to a great show a couple days after Christmas. I had Tiff for Christmas and after finding out 7 Brides for 7 Brothers was going to be at the 5th Avenue Theatre, I decided to get her tickets to the show. We had such a great time. The show was great (6 well-built men with their shirt's off - who's gonna complain about that?) The dancing was amazing as well! See the link to youtube below... (you have to copy and paste into your browser - it's my lack of blogging skills coming out - again!)

Christmas

We had a really great Christmas here in Washington. It was so much fun to have a white Christmas - it actually snowed almost the entire day!
We spent Christmas Eve at Grandma and Grandpa Conrad's house and had a great dinner, then the regular Christmas Eve festivities, including the annual new pajama picture. Then it was on to home so Adam could go to bed and Santa could stop by. Adam put out cookies and water for Santa. (he said Santa didn't like milk - who knows where that came from!) Then it was off to bed so Santa could drop of presents and mom, dad and Aunt Tiff could stay up half the night trying to build something out of those silly tinker toys! (someone needs to come up with some better instructions!)
Christmas morning came and we had fun watching Adam open his presents and help everyone else with theirs. I've posted all the pictures on our Picassa website because there were so many of them. You can click on the "Wallis family photos" link on the sidebar if you care to take a look.
We've had lots of fun with Aunt Tiffy here, and we loved playing in all the snow. We hope all our family and friends had as great a Christmas as we did! It's such a great time of year to spend time with loved ones and remember our Savior, Jesus Christ. I'm so thankful he came to this earth to show us the way back!

A Special Guest for Christmas Eve

I have to share the funniest thing that happened on Christmas Eve. We were at Grandma and Grandpa Conrad's house waiting for Scott to pick up Aunt Tiffy from the airport. Adam was playing with something in the living room and someone walked in the door. Adam ran over to see who it was and we all asked him who had come in the door. Adam said "It's Jesus!" Needless to say, the rest of us were pretty surprised! We heard a chuckling coming from the doorway and up the stairs walked Uncle Hyrum! Hyrum has been growing a beard for the past several months, and Adam has been watching the movie "The Testaments". His favorite part is when Jesus comes down and "puts out all the fires". Of course, Jesus has a beard - so Adam thought Jesus had come to our Christmas Eve festivities! We all got a good chuckle out of that one!

Snow Day

It started snowing again Saturday afternoon around 3:30, and I think it snowed all night long. We woke up to a world of white! I keep hearing on the news that it's supposed to warm up and start raining, but it sure didn't happen today! We found out around 10:30 that church was cancelled "due to inclement weather". Adam and mommy were going to stay home anyway, because Adam is still getting over a very nasty cold. I guess I let him play in the snow a little too much during the early stages, because the past couple of days have been pretty rough! Anyway - we decided to have a pajama day, and just enjoy being together as a family!

Adam LOVES to cook! So he and daddy made a great ham and broccoli egg scramble for breakfact. Scott is very brave and helps Adam cut up the veggies and crack the eggs! He usually does a pretty good job of it! It's really fun to watch them cook together. It's pretty amazing that Adam is so into cooking, but he has always been interested in what goes on in the kitchen! We're hoping he'll be the next great chef!!

After eating a yummy breakfast, we spent the rest of the day just hanging out. We watched a movie, played with cars, took a nap, played the Wii, and just basically had a great time being together. It's almost 6pm and it's still snowing outside! Tomorrow could be a fun day. It's too bad Scott has to try and venture out to his restaurant tomorrow. Once he gets to the freeway, it shouldn't be too bad. I just hope he can make it home! I wouldn't mind just having another snow day! It's fun to stay at home in your pajamas all day long!

Sledding!

It started snowing yesterday afternoon around 3:30 and kept snowing off and on for the next 24 hours. Which means we've accumulated quite a bit of snow - at least for Western Washington standards. Adam's been feeling a little under the weather, but he begs to go outside and play, so when his neighbor friend called to see if he could go outside to play we said yes. Our neighbors have a nice little hill for their front yard, and they also have a sled. Adam LOVED it! "Again, again!" - he shouted everytime he got to the bottom of the hill. It was so fun to watch! The boys even made some snow angels. It's so fun to play in the snow, especially when you have great neighbors!

The weather outside is DELIGHTFUL!!

Scott and I were at the mall Saturday night when it started snowing! We were walking outside headed to a restaurant for dinner when another couple came walking by and they guy started singing "The weather outside is delightful". Much to my surprise, Scott leaned over and whispered "that's not how the song goes, is it?" I guess all that Christmas music I've been listening too has sunk into his head!
But, the weather is Delightful! I love the snow! It started snowing Saturday night and we woke up Sunday morning to just a little bit of snow on the ground. As soon as Adam saw it, he wanted to go build a snowman! So, Scott and Adam bundled up while I put some cinnamon rolls in the oven and then went outside to take some pictures. The snow wasn't snowman building snow, but the boys had fun throwing snow at each other, and Scott taught Adam how to make a snow angel. It was fun for the first snow fall! We may be getting more later this week, and the weatherman even mentioned the possibility of snow on Christmas! I can't remember when that's happened around here!!
By the way - I may need some more blogging lessons. Can anyone tell me how to put pictures in the text of my blog, instead of always at the top. Come one Sarah - you did a great job of explaining how to add a link!! Thanks!!

Santa Train

You might think we were crazy to take Adam to see Santa - AGAIN! Especially after the last unsucessful try. But, Adam has been talking about going for a ride on a train for several months! So, a few months back I noticed that tickets for the Santa Train at the NW Railway Museum were for sale. I thought it sounded like fun and had heard that tickets will sell out pretty quickly, so I bought some! Scott took the day off of work, and we went!

The weather was beautiful! We got to North Bend, where the train leaves from, half an hour early to find parking. The train was sitting there when we pulled up and Adam was so excited! Then as we were walking to the depot, the whistle blew and the train took off! Adam was very concerned that the train was leaving without us. We soon found out that the train that had just left, was for the group in front of us. The train was running about 45 minutes late! We were very lucky the weather turned out to be so beautiful. I stood in line to get on the train and Scott took Adam to run around and play on the train tracks. We were supposed to leave at 3:00. The train finally came back and we left North Bend shortly before 4:00.

The train ride was lots of fun. We sang some Christmas Carols, and waved at the cars and people that we saw. Adam thought it was great! When we got to Snoqualmie, we got off the trian and went to get some treats (hot chocolate and fresh baked cookies), and then got in line to see Santa. The line was long. There was a coloring station (smart!!), so Adam colored a couple of pictures, and he sat on daddy's shoulders, and played with a cute little girl in front of us in line. When we finally got to the room with Santa, Adam would not go talk to him. I picked him up and walked up close, but Adam wanted nothing to do with him. So we went back out and got on the train to head back to North Bend.

The ride back was fun! Adam played with his new train and helicopter, and shortly before we pulled into North Bend, Santa came walking down the aisle. We were in the last car of the train, so after Santa finished handing out candy canes to all the kids, he sat down across from us. I tried to get Adam to go talk to him, but he wouldn't leave my lap. He watched several other kids come over and sit on his lap and talk to him. He did finally start talking to Santa, and told him he wanted a Basketball for Christmas. Then, as we were getting ready to leave, he finally did it - he walked over to Santa, sat on his lap and even gave him a big hug! It was so cute! Santa was so nice and patient with him! It was the perfect ending to a fun day on the Santa Train!

Oh Christmas Tree, Part II

The tree is up! We spent family night decorating the tree. Adam was a BIG help! He even got to put the star on the top!
