It's a....

We had a really great ultrasound today - and we are having a BOY!! The little guy was not shy about showing us that he is indeed a boy. The ultrasound technician didn't even have to tell us - it was very obvious! Adam was very excited to have a baby brother - at first. After we got home, we called a few people and Adam told everyone he's having a baby sister. I think my mom was a little disappointed when I told her that he's actually having a baby brother. Adam continues to tell everyone that it's a baby sister. He wanted to carry the ultrasound picture around, so Scott took a picture of it and we printed a special picture for Adam to keep. He takes it everywhere! We also had the ultrasound recorded, and he wants to watch it constantly. He says "I want to see my baby sister", so we turn it on and he is enthralled! Then he cries when it's over. It's so cute! I just hope he's as excited when the baby comes - and isn't too disappointed when he gets a baby brother!!
I'm very excited to have two little boys running around! I love the relationship Scott has with his brothers and that my three brothers have with each other. I hope Adam and his little brother can be best buds too!

Grandpa Wallis comes to visit!

Grandpa Wallis came for a long weekend visit over Easter weekend. He started out going straight from the airport to a fishing trip with Scott. They headed over the mountains to fish at Rocky Ford for a couple of days. This is the "save the fish - not me" fish. (You'll have to ask Scott to tell the story). I think they had a nice time fishing together.
Adam was excited to hang out with Grandpa when they got back on Friday night. Here they are watching a baseball movie together. Grandpa gave Adam his first mitt and is excited for him to start playing. Scott wants him to play football - Grandpa is hoping for a baseball player. We'll see who wins out...

Here's Adam and Grandpa playing a heated game of Hi-Ho Cherry-o. We just got this game, and Adam has enjoyed playing it. It's been a great way to practice counting. He's getting better!

We sure are glad Grandpa Wallis was able to come for a visit! Adam has asked me several times today where Grandpa went, and he's not so sure about this going home thing. We are so greatful for good Grandparents! What a blessing they are to all of us!

Easter Sunday

Easter Sunday was always one of my favorites growing up. It's fun to celebrate with a 3 year old. Adam woke to find a trail of jelly beans leading to his Easter Basket - I think maybe next year he'll be old enough so the Easter Bunny can start to hide his basket.
After Easter Bunny fun, we headed to church. Scott had to speak in sacrament meeting - and he did a fabulous job! I am so proud of him! He spoke so well and the spirit was very strong. He spoke of the things we should do to be prepared to partake of the sacrament each week. I wish you could have all been there to hear him. Here we all are, ready to go to church.

And this is my handsome little guy. He's looking rather grown up in his new church clothes!!

Easter Egg hunting and coloring

We really are blessed to live in a great neighborhood! We've been here for 5 and a half years, and have enjoyed all of the fun festivities! Each year, a few of our neighbors have organized an Easter Egg hunt, and it is fun every time! This year was no exception. The only bad thing was that it was so darn cold!! But, as you can see - there was still a great turn out!!

After the hunting, all the eggs must be emptied and saved for next year. The fun part is that there are surprises in some of the eggs. If you get a chocolate coin, you get to pick a prize from the prize bucket. If you get a slip of paper - you get a grand prize from the table. Adam won a fun Crayola Wonders coloring kit! Here he is opening all his eggs with friend Xander.

After the hunting was over, we (thankfully) went back home and did some coloring. Our friend Xander joined us again this year, and we had some fun! Adam colored most of his eggs and his fingers blue!

It was another fun Easter Saturday! We were glad that Grandma and Grandpa Conrad could join us again this year as well! Thanks for coming to share fun memories with Adam!!

The maiden voyage!

Monday night after FHE, we decided to take the bike out for it's first official ride. Everything started out a little shaky - that whole pedaling forward without pressing back was a little hard to grasp - but we did make it all the way down our block and back. I couldn't decide which picture was better - so you get all three of them. I love the huge smile plastered on his face!!

Weekend - Part 2

Sunday morning, we slept in and then got ready to head back out to Pike Place Market for the day. We went back to the Seattle Center to catch the monorail. We also tried to talk Adam into going up into the rocket again, but he still wasn't into it. So, we waited for the monrail, and took a ride across Seattle. Adam and Scott are ready for the ride!!
We walked down to Pike Place market from Westlake Center. It was such a beautiful day! And you could tell, because there were lots of people out and about. You can always tell when it's a sunny day in Seattle after a looooong winter - everyone heads outside! And I think half of the population was at Pike Place. It was so crowded. Adam was a little nervous walking around, so Scott ended up carrying him most of the time (not an easy thing to do - he weighs over 40 pounds!) There was a BBQ contest happening this same weekend, so it may have been a little more crowded than normal.
After walking up and down and watching the flying fish, we decided to head back up to the mall. Adam was tired, Scott's shoulders were aching from carrying Adam around, Pike Place seemed like a bust! So, we headed back to the mall and took the monorail back to the Seattle Center. We talked about just going home, but decided to walk over to the international fountain. There were lots of people, but it's such a big fountain and so fun to watch. We sat and watched the show, and laughed at all the people running in and out of the water, when Adam decided he wanted to run around too. He started out going down with Scott. Of course, Scott helped them get right into the water. Adam wasn't so sure about that so he had to come sit with me again for a little bit. He put Scott's sunglasses on and posed for some pics.

He did decide to go back down and play - this time without dad. We spent about 2 hours watching Adam chase all the other kids around the fountain. He had a fabulous time! Scott took tons of pictures (again, they are all posted on our picassa site). We did finally convince Adam that it was time to go, and posed for one last family picture by the fountain.

We had such a fabulous couple of days! The weather was beautiful, and it was so fun to just be together as a family! I think we wore Adam out as well - what do you think?

Our weekend to see the Rocket - Part 1

For General Conference weekend, we decided to get out of town...sort of. We set the TV to DVR conference so we could watch it when we got home and we headed out, to the far off land of Seattle. We thought it would be fun to get away from home for a couple of days, and spend time playing as a family. Saturday, we headed to the Seattle Center - hoping to go to the top of the "rocket" (I guess I should fill you in on the rocket - one day, Adam and I were driving down I-5 through Seattle, and suddenly I hear him gasp! I asked him what was wrong, and he said "Look mom - A Rocket!!" His voice was so filled with awe! I later figured out that he was talking about the space needle.)
Once we got there and Adam saw how really big the rocket is, he decided it was too big to go to the top. We tried to persuad him many times, but he always said no - so instead, we hung out at Fun Forest and Adam rode several rides. I think this one was his favorite - it was the only one he wanted to ride twice.
After Scott and I had our fill of watching Adam ride the rides, we decided to go into the Seattle Children's Museum. I've only been there once with a good friend and her boys, but it had been quite awhile. Scott had never been. This is my favorite picture from the Museum. Adam thought this contraption was so cool, he spent a lot of time putting the ping ping balls thru it. We had to really coax Adam to leave this area!!

We also had a lot of fun at the building area. Adam designed this lovely house and Scott went around behind him stabilizing the structure so it wouldn't fall over. It was quite the building when it was all done!

After the Children's Museum, we headed to our hotel. We actually stayed downtown for the night - which was really fun. We had taken Adam to the Ocean for his last birthday, and ever since then, he's been asking when he can go stay at a hotel again. We thought this would be a fun opportunity. We spent a little bit of time in the pool (well, Scott and Adam did - I'm not sure if the pool was heated - but it wasn't heated enough for my taste - so I just watched and cheered when Adam jumped and swam). After swimming, we ordered room service and celebrated my birthday with yummy cake (Adam had been waiting all day to sing "Happy Birthday to mommy" and then we went to bed - it was a busy day!!
