Halloween!

We had lots of Halloween celebrations this year!  Jackson was excited to dress up as Spiderman, and then The Hulk, and then Lockey (not sure how you spell it - the bad guy from The Avengers), and then back to Spiderman and around and around.  I think he changed his mind about 5 times every day.  He got a Spiderman costume for his birthday - so Spiderman won...
We started out Halloween by going to our ward party.   They had fun carnival games, and we all wore Batman t-shirts.  Unfortunately, we didn't get any pictures...

The next night, we joined grandma and grandpa's ward Halloween party with Robyn and Rachael.  Here's the boys with Robyn - who was Blue from Blue's Clues - her favorite show ever!  We had lots of fun trick or treating around the ward building and seeing old friends from when Scott and I lived in the same ward over 9 years ago now.  (Can't believe it's been that long since we lived in Kirkland!!)  The ward has changed a lot, but there are still a few people we know.  We have lots of fond memories of that ward and many life long friends!  It was a fun party for the kids!
Halloween night, we gave Adam the choice of trick or treating around our neighborhood, like we've done every other year, or to go to Edmonds and trick or treat with his good friend Xander and his family.  Adam decided he wanted to go with Xander, so the boys and I headed to Edmonds as soon as daddy got home.  Kate had been sick, so she stayed home with dad to hand out candy to the neighbor kids.
Adam was excited to see that Xander was Captain America!  Adam had chosen to be Hawkeye!  Both of them were heroes from The Avengers (we aren't sure why Adam chose Hawkeye.  He loves the Avengers movie and became fascinated with Hawkeye.  I would have thought he would choose Iron Man or Captain America, a more central character - but he chose Hawkeye!)
Here are the two Avengers characters, ready to head out to fight evil and gather candy!!
We headed to downtown Edmonds first.  All of the shopkeepers hand out candy and they have music playing and booths set up.  It was fun, but very crowded!  It was hard to keep track of all the kids - especially my little Spiderman, since there were lots of other little Spidermen running around!  So, we headed up and down about half a block, and then headed out to hit some neighborhoods!  Here's our big group of trick or treaters! I think we had every character from The Avengers, except for The Hulk (too bad I wouldn't buy Jackson a new costume!)  Adam is in the back next to the mummy - right behind Jackson.
Let me tell ya - the neighborhoods around downtown Edmonds are the place to trick or treat!  We only walked around for about 30 minutes before Jackson was ready to go, and the boys got a huge haul of candy!  Some of the houses were giving out baggies full of candy, and they each received several full size candy bars!  They were pretty excited!  But, Jackson wore out quickly.  So we said goodbye to Xander and Quyen and tried to find our way back to the Terry's house.  It was pretty dark by then, and I had no idea where we were.  Thankfully, I had my iphone!  The boys were pretty worried that we were lost, but I successfully navigated us down some very dark streets (why don't those streets have streetlights?) and back to the car.
Jackson didn't make it very far before he was like this....
We got home to find our little ladybug and daddy handing out candy.  (This picture is actually from my parents house.  I guess I didn't take any pictures of her Halloween night!)  Adam happily jumped in and finished handing out candy to the last of the trick or treaters.  We had a fun Halloween!

Trip to the Pumpkin Patch!

We ventured out to Bob's Corn again for our visit to the pumpkin patch.  We went with some friends who live down the street who we've met through school.  There are twin boys in the family who were both in Adam's kindergarten class last year.  Grandpa joined us too, and we had a great time!
This was the best picture we could get of our fam out in the patch.
Kate was a little unsure of what we were doing, but she did enjoy laying on the pumpkins.  Do you like her little owl leg warmers?  It was a cold day!
Classic shot in the wheelbarrow with the pumpkins!
On the hayride!  She wouldn't let go of the board!
We, of course did the cow ride!
Kate watched the cow ride from a hay bale.  She only ate about 20 pieces of hay!
 Are they having fun?
And that's it for the pictures!  Not sure why we didn't take more!  They had a corn maze just for the kids this year.  Adam has begged every year to go through the corn maze, but we've never done it because it was expensive and we didn't think he'd like it.  With the new one, we decided to go through it, and they had lots of fun doing the scavenger hunt.  All in all it was a fun day!  The sad part was that a few days after we got home with our pumpkins, someone stole them off of our porch and smashed them.  The boys were pretty upset about it!  The boys that we went with were so sweet and shared two if their pumpkins with us.  It was so nice of them!
We never did get around to carving pumpkins this year, so they just sat on our porch looking like their boring pumpkins selves.  Oh well.  The trip to the pumpkin patch sure was fun!!

Hilltop Fun Run

Every year at Adam's school, they do a fun run to raise money for the PTSA.  I went to help during the time that Adam's class was running!  It was fun!  The day was stormy and cold - but luckily, it didn't rain the hour that I was there!  It sure was cold though!
The school doesn't have a track or anything, but there is a huge field in the back.  So they measure out a track and take 5 or 6 classes at a time.  Each class has a station and as the kids run around the track, they get a bracelet from the helpers at their station.  That's how they keep track of the number of laps they've run.  Each lap is 1/8th of a mile.  Adam was so excited to run!  Here are a few pictures of him!  The gal in the pink sweatshirt at the edge of this picture is his teacher!

Adam ended up running 19 laps in half an hour!  So he ran a little over 2 and 1/4 miles!  He was pretty proud of himself!
I took Jackson with me (my friend called me and convinced me it was to cold take Kate so she graciously watched her for me).  We even ran 4 or 5 laps with Adam, so Jackson got some bracelets too!
